The Leap of Greatness

Safety is a comfortable place to live, but a poor place to grow. The eel is a creature of the water, yet it is known to leap out of its natural element to deliver a more powerful electric shock to its targets. This act of leaving the "known" to maximize impact is a vital lesson for leaders. True growth and maximum influence often require you to step out of your comfort zone.
Staying within what is familiar leads to stagnation. While the water is safe for the eel, it limits the reach of its power. Similarly, if a leader only stays where they feel comfortable, they limit the potential of their organization. To achieve a breakthrough, you must be willing to leap into the "air"—the space of risk, new ideas, and unfamiliar territory.
Growth is always found in the stretch. When you challenge yourself to do something that scares you, you expand your capacity. A leader who pushes their boundaries encourages their team to do the same. By demonstrating that the "unsafe" zone is actually the "growth" zone, you build a culture of courage and high performance.
Every leap prepares you for a higher one. The eel doesn't just jump; it calculates its move to be more effective. Leadership is about "calculated leaps." It’s about taking risks that are aligned with your purpose. When you leave your comfort zone with intent, you find that you have strengths you never knew existed.
Do not be afraid to leave the water. The air may feel thin and the ground may feel strange, but it is there that your impact is strongest. Embrace the challenge, take the leap, and realize that your greatest achievements are waiting just beyond the edges of your comfort zone.
